Mr. and Mrs. Smith.....to Mr. and Mrs. Scott?!??!

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.
~Henry Van Dyke

Saw this the other day and thought "thats sooo true".  Ryan and I haven't known each other long but we're constantly amazed at how we feel like we've known each other forever.  It blows our  minds regularly that we've only known each other four months.  We always argue with ourselves when we count back because we just can't see how it's possible that its ONLY been four months. :)  Feels like years!  As I've talked to friends about this I've learned that it's not all that uncommon for couples to "know" fast and just close their eyes and jump.  And MOST that I've talked to who have experienced that are still going strong. :)
A while back Ryan and I went to a Dierks Bentley concert in Reno with the local radio station (a friend had won tickets and couldnt go so she gave them to us) and had a blast.  Dierks has a song called "My Last Name."  It's a great song and as he sang it I felt Ryan watching me.  When I looked over at him he had this goofy grin on his face and told me "I'm gonna marry you."  I thought it was the beer talking. ;)  Here are the lyrics:

"My Last Name"

I learned how to write it when I first started school,
Some bully didn't like it, he said it didn't sound to cool,
So I had to hit him and all I said when the blood came,
It's my last name
Grandpa took of to europe to fight the germans in the war,
It came back on some dogtags nobody wears no more,
It's written on a headstone in the field where he was slain,
It's my last name
Passed down from generations too far back to trace,
I can see all my relations when I look into my face,
May never make it famous but I'll never bring it shame,
It's my last name
Daddy always told me far back as I recall,
Son, your part of somethin', you represent us all,
So keep it how you got it , as solid as it came,
It's my last name
Passed down from generations too far back to trace,
I can see all my relations when I look into my face,
May never make it famous but I'll never bring it shame,
It's my last name
So darlin' if you're wonderin' why I've got you here tonight,
I wanna be your husband, I want you to be my wife,
I ain't got much to give you but what I've got means everything,
It's my last name, oh, it's my last name

I learned how to write it when I first started school...

So...with that said:

Yes, that's an engagement ring! :)  Here's the story:

We were snuggled on the couch watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith Monday night and he got up. I thought he was going to the kitchen or something but he got down on one knee and said "I don't have a ring for that finger right now but will you marry me?" I asked if he was serious. He said he was. (He's so spontaneous and genuine and I love it!)  So when I noticed the tears in his eyes and his serious face I realized he really was serious and I said YES! :)
Last night we went ring shopping. I love it.  It's perfect.  It's simple and understated and still amazingly beautiful.  He done good. :)

This is us....glowing from the new engagment.  We have no plans yet, no date set, no when, where, who...we're just settling into the excitement one day at a time and loving it.

Did I mention...we're ENGAGED?!

Phew! Glad that's "done".

You know that old saying "it ain't over till the fat lady sings"?  Well, that kind of applies except it should read "it aint over till I've gotten my deposit back from the devil landlord".  Supposedly I should have my deposit back from the apartment this week...she said she was mailing it today at the latest so fingers crossed that she actually did it!!  Then we will be DONE. :)

As for the new house it's pretty much PERFECT.  We absolutely love it and wish we could stay forever.  Well, not forever because it's a one bedroom, one bath and eventually we might need more room than that.  But for us, starting out together, its PERFECT.  It's all coming together nicely.  We were afraid that we wouldn't fit everything but it's opened up like Mary Poppin's bag and just taken it all in.  We even added furniture; scored a great desk for $20 off a yard sale website and apparently sometime this afternoon we're adding a cat tree because the girls need somewhere of their own.  Can you tell Ryan is home and continuing to spoil them way beyond what he should?!  :)  Can't say I'm complaining, we're just glad he's with us for a few days.  (Since I typed that I've been home and seen the ''cat tree'' that is being installed and it takes a whole corner of the living room....rearrangement commences soon...silly cats.)

Tonight is date night!  We're going to go to dinner and then see Taken 2.  Pretty excited over here.  Loved Taken so hopefully Taken 2 won't disappoint.  Now to decide where to go for dinner.  I'm leaning toward the Flying Fish...Ryan's a bit unsure about going to that "fish" place but I assured him they have all sorts of grub.  We'll see how this turns out. :)

Other than that it's just the day to day over here.  The car needs new tires so that's happening tomorrow; the cats need spayed so that's happening next week...
Another day another (hundred) dollar(s), right?

;)

But, what can I say?  It's life and it's a beautiful thing. :)

We drove out to visit the happy hunters.  Ryan had never been to Tabor Creek. :)

Brian helping Uncle Ryan move.

Penny helping me get ready for work...

Totally unrelated but adorable picture of Ryan's niece Cadence in trouble...she was so upset to be sent to the corner.

View out the window over the kitchen sink.  Not a bad place to do the dishes. :)

Patience is a virtue?! Really...say it one more time...

Soooo ready to be in the new house!  Sooo tired of letting the devil landlord in to show the apartment to new people and sooo tired of packing.
That's all. ;)

Virginia City, NV 9/23/12

Sunday we went with Aunt Vicki to explore Virginia City.  They were in the middle of Street Vibrations, which is a huge biker festival thing they do every year so there were definately some characters present....for example...Biker Doggy!

Mark Twain has a ton of history in Virginia City...it's where he became "Mark Twain" as a matter of fact!  You should look it up; pretty cool Nevada history!

There are really no words so check out the awesomeness:

2012 Ruby Mountain Balloon Festival, Spring Creek

Ryan and I got up early Friday morning and went to SC to see the launch of the hot air balloons.  We were both leaving town later that day so had to fit it in nice and early!  Luckily we did because there was a balloon that needed our help!  We got to help launch a balloon with the Rainbow Trails crew out of Salt Lake!  I had to leave to go to work (booo!) but Ryan got to go for a ride!!!!

Ryan's up there :)

Helping get the lines straight

Well hells bells!!

It's been a long time since I have posted on my blog.  I'm not sure why, per se.  I just haven't logged on.  Changing that right now though, aren't I?

One of my favorite people, Marilyn Monroe (have I mentioned I think she was brilliant), has a great quote that I have probably shared before but here it is again, just in case you forgot.

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself. And sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
- Marilyn Monroe

Yet again, soooo much has changed.  Not everything though; work is still the same.  My family still rocks my socks off.  Although, we do have more Hess' in Elko now than we did before since my cousin Jake moved down here with his family.  Baby sister and her hubbs are now licensed for foster care.  Some day that might turn into an adoption and I'll be an auntie again.  Mom and Dad are busy putting their special touches on their fun house they bought out at Jack Creek.  Grandma got a new car.  Life is pretty much still just plugging along.

BUT WAIT!  There's more.
#1: Ryan.....my Ryan.  :)  He popped up in my world when I was least expecting it and has sent it shooting to new levels of awesome.  He's amazing.  He's honest, open, not ashamed to say how he feels, hard working, helpful, kind, smart, cute (really really cute) and pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, in my completely biased opinion.   He's a dirt bike crashing, snowmobile thrashing hillbilly and I LOVE IT!  Can't find Ryan?  Look in the nearest tree, lol.  He's awesome to me, takes care of me and I'm pretty sure there's nothing I could ask him to do that he wouldn't at least try to do for me, and vice versa.  He has this amazing smile...I'd pretty much do anything to get him to smile...we're a little bit ridiculous together!  He spoils me, makes me laugh till my sides hurt pretty much every time he's around and has no plans to go away any time soon.  Who's a lucky girl???  ME!

#2: I'm moving!  Moving out, moving up and moving in!  My wonderful freaking devil of a landlord decided that I should move.  I was given a 30 day notice of eviction last week...without cause.  Can she do that?!  Yes.  I was on a month-to-month lease and all she's required to do is give 30 days notice.  BUT!  You know that old saying where when you close a door usually a window opens (for you to jump out of!! haha).  Well it did!  Some amazing friends of the family  happen to have a little house available for rent right in my 30 days window.  It's awesome.  It's TINY and COZY and awesome.  The yard is simply amazing.  It's a one-bedroom, one-bath house about a block from my office.  The rent is lower than my rent now and the landlords are...did I mention...SIMPLY AMAZING?!  The next big news with this is that RYAN AND I signed OUR lease on the new house last night.  Yes, that's right...we're moving in together.  And we are seriously ecstatic.  :)

#3: I get to see my sister tomorrow!  We are spending the weekend in Reno and running a 5K on Saturday.  It's my first 5K and it's a color run...check out www.colormerad.com to see what that means...pictures will be up shortly after the weekend, I promise!

Oh!  and I got two cats.  They're twins.  They're adorable!  :)  We love them big time! :)
Ok, back to work I go.  xoxo

Ryan sharing his chair with our little buddy Shawn...

Kitten snuggles......

Meet Trixie...she loves to snuggle while I read!

My Ryan refreshing himself with an ever-healthy AMP on our hike to Lamoille Lake...probably could consider this our second date.

Wine Walk with Aunt Becky and "Aunt" Sherry in September!

No hillbilly, you can't have the camo couch....sorry.

This is Penelope...her friends call her Penny.  She's a rambunctious little snot and we love her tons.  This picture is a good explanation of why my alarm randomly gets turned off....but she's assured me it's an "assident". Haha.

I failed to mention that my Ryan is a mechanic...major perks for the girlfriend! :)

The front view of our new house :)

Our front porch and cutesie little tree. :)

This is our new back yard.....did I mention it's AWESOME?!
